Keyboards

About the keyboard

The keyboard is one of the most versatile instruments in the world. The hundreds of sounds and rhythmic accompaniments of a keyboard, along with many extra features including the the ability to design patches and layer sounds, enable a keyboardist to sound like an entire band.

When playing with other musicians, the keyboardist can play the lead or the accompaniment, and can even substitute for any instrument.

For someone who wants to play an instrument for the first time, the keyboard is a great choice as it will give you a solid understanding of musical theory. This will help you pick up any other instruments in the future. As a beginner, you’ll first learn notes and scales to play simple melodies. By combining these notes, you will then learn how to form chords, and play them in a progression to form a song.

Our Teachers

Trained as a classical pianist, Melody loves movie soundtracks and easy piano songs that sound complicated. and counts Joe Hisaishi as one of the most important influences in her musical journey. For those unfamiliar with this name, lovers of the tunes of Studio Ghibli films like Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle would definitely recognise his compositions if not his name.
